the mission of a tiny light

Poetry is one of the best ways to heal. It gives the chance to express some of the hardest truths while finding a way through them. It provides a creative way to capture beauty in the midst of chaos and see the light coming through the cracks.

That light is our resilience shining through.

We need experiences and words that get us back in touch with how to find and move toward our own inner light. Join me in finding ways to spread words of healing to outweigh those that are much heavier, and are often successful, in trying to weigh us down. The poetry found in words, lyrics, and images can push us in the right direction toward more light. Let’s write more, read more, create more, and/or share more!

May this be one of the places to find such inspiration.

May we tip the scales toward the words we are dying to say and longing to hear.

Dena Parker Duke is an Idaho based author who writes in honor of skin, bones, and hearts that somehow know how to mend themselves, kind of like starfish. She uses poetry to help burn away secrets and shame around our stories so healing and hope can take root. After undergoing four eye surgeries since 2023 she is even more amazed at how the human body (and spirit) knows just how to heal. Adapting one of her poems into her newest book for all ages (tailored for kids) has been a dream in finding another way to share what it means to be resilient in this world.
